Residences are reminded about the requirement to close their shut-off valve at the street if they will be absent for more than 3 days.
PRESENCE OF TRIHALOMETHANE — Bromine in the water supply and use of chlorine for disinfectant can result in the presence of by-products known as Tri-halomethanes (THM). Prior to 2019 THM levels sometimes exceeded the Guideline for Canadian Drinking Water Quality issued by Health Canada. Residents concerned about THMs in their water should consider an alternative source for drinking water or treat by boiling, or with activated carbon or other certified point-of-use filtration.
SODIUM LEVELS — Sodium is a naturally occurring element in our well water. The levels of sodium exiting the treatment plants are within established limits, but can exceed the alert level for people on sodium restricted diets. It is recommended that such people use an alternative source for drinking water.
